Taking care of a seriously injured person in the emergency room is a challenge for each crew member, as the general textbook knowledge concerning diagnostics and therapy of individual injuries is by far insufficient.
In most cases, they have to deal with multiple injuries requiring permanent re-evaluation and other comprehensive treatment. Other decision-making processes concerning diagnostics and therapy are therefore indispensable for a successful preservation of life. In order to ensure the complex trauma support in each emergency situation, clear guidelines as well as structure in the treatment and in the team work are required.
